Attendance is critical
Students need to be at school to engage in the science practices. Collaborative discussions and collaborative work can not be duplicated. It is the construction of knowledge, not the knowledge itself that is important in science education today. Students are engaged in the science practices in class and we use this time to practice.
Sense-making
Ask your child about the phenomenon they are making sense of.
Ask your child to bring home their Science Notebook / folder for you to take a look. Ask questions about what you see in their notebook.
PowerSchool
Check PowerSchool for assignments that are already graded. If your child is not yet at mastery/proficiency in the science standards, use the chart below to help them improve in the practices.
Google Classroom
Some assignments are on Google Classroom. Check on the assignments that are being worked on currently. If an assignment has a due date, check to see the progress your child is making on it and if assignments are being submitted on time. Email the teacher directly if you have questions about a specific teacher's Google Classroom. Please keep in mind that the majority of work is done on paper and in notebooks.
