Meet the Director

Mark Caron

Director of Athletics

Mark Caron is in his fifth year as the Director of Athletics for Bethel Public Schools.  In his current position Mark is responsible for the development, improvement and supervision of both the Bethel High School and Bethel Middle School athletic programs.  Prior to accepting this position, Mark was employed as a chemistry teacher at Fairfield Warde High School since 1999.  In addition, he served as the Director of Student Activities, overseeing all clubs and activities, budget operations, hiring, supervising and evaluating staff and programs.

Mark also has extensive experience in coaching.  He was the head baseball coach at Fairfield Warde High school from 2004-2015 and was an assistant coach in both soccer and indoor track.  During his tenure as the head baseball coach at Fairfield Warde High School Mark worked to creatively connect community youth programs to high school athletics.  Through mentorship programs, camps, and clinics Mark helped transition Fairfield Warde into a dominant baseball program.  In 2014, the Fairfield Warde Mustangs won the FCIAC baseball championship for the first time in school history and for his contributions Mark was selected as the CT Post Coach of the Year.  Another proud accomplishment of Mark’s was the founding of a leadership club in 2012 called Warde Athletes Responsible that grew to over 75 members.  The focus of this leadership club was to develop ethical and responsible student athlete leaders to serve as role models to their peers and town youth programs.

Mark has obtained three degrees from Sacred Heart University.  In 1997, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry.  He earned his Master’s Degree in Teaching in 1999 and, most recently, received his 6th year degree in Administrative Leadership in 2007. While at Sacred Heart Mark played four years in the baseball program and was selected captain his senior year.  While completing his master’s degree Mark was a graduate assistant for the baseball team.

Mark resides in Newtown with his wife Christina and two children, Isabelle and Sean.
