A few weeks ago, we did experiments with batteries, lights, and motors. Some experiments led to unexpected results. We tested and if the test didn't work, we would try a different conductor, battery, or wires. Some needed more batteries than others.
We also learned that electrons can only travel through certain components like metal or copper. Some components that electrons cannot travel through are materials like rubber or paper.
We all enjoyed testing many different suggestions.
This week we learned about how maple trees have 5 different layers such as the: heartwood which is dead but strong, the sapwood which is practically a place that holds little straws that the sap travels through, the vascular cambium is a growing part that is a new cell, the living phloem is an inner ring that will soon turn into outer bark, the outer bark is what protects everything inside the tree.
Next week we will attempt to build either a battery, balloon, ribbon or wind powered car.
