Hello Families!

My name is Mary Kunzman.  This is my 24th  year at Oak Street School.  I feel incredibly fortunate to be a part of this amazing school community.  I am passionate about children and enjoy providing hope, positivity and encouragement to others.

Prior to being a school counselor, I was a special education teacher for over 10 years.  This experience has helped me to appreciate each child for his or her individuality and ability.   My past teaching experience has enabled me to collaborate and problem solve with teachers.

I am the parent of two teenagers.  This gives me authentic insight and perspective into the parent-child dynamic.  I strive to be realistic in my approach with families.   I also respect the fact that your child is the most important thing in your life.

My goal is for all students to become resilient and to gain the coping skills to "bounce back" when they experience a problem.  I help students learn that conflict is a normal part of life and that there is always a healthy solution.

In my free time I enjoy being in nature.  I am an animal lover and rescued a Jack Russell Terrier name "Jack Jack".  My favorite leisure activity is watching Hallmark movies with my family!
