The school counseling program at Oak Street offers a variety of small group counseling opportunities for all students. Small groups of three to five students may meet during lunch and/or recess for approximately six to eight weeks. Parents who wish to have their child participate in a small group may contact the counselor. Below is a list of potential groups that may be offered throughout the course of the school year:

Newcomer's Club:

All students that are new to the school in grades 1-5 are invited to meet in small groups during lunch to promote new friendships and a positive transition to Oak Street.

Lunch Buddies:

Lunch Bunch is an opportunity for students to meet during lunch to discuss friendship concerns and practice social skills.

Stress Busters:

Students who are invited to participate will discover their body's signals of stress. Students will learn relaxation techniques, as well as problem solving strategies.

Survive It:

Students who are experiencing a loss in their families through separation, divorce, or death meet to share their concerns, thoughts, and feelings associated with the loss.
