Equal opportunity for all
To bring equality and inspiration to every student
1 in 6 children grow up in poverty, and 37% of children raised in poverty do not finish high school; education can often be the ladder between social classes (Childfund). Individuals have only a 1 in 3 chance of escaping poverty every year, and education is an important factor of economic mobility (Urban.org). Kids who live in impoverished areas tend to score lower on standardized tests, which gives them fewer opportunities to get a higher education and get out of poverty. Children of uneducated parents are behind their peers in cognitive capacity and numeracy levels which limits their access to higher-level courses and makes it harder for them to get into college when they are competing against wealthier students (American Psychology Association).
