6th graders in STEAM learn how to program online games, how to create digital art, and how to use archetecture to design homes and other buildings.Â
Scratch is a computer programming tool created by experts at MIT (The Massachusetts Institute of Technology) to help students learn how to code using a language called Blockly, a type of Javascript. We give students a series of tutorial lessons and tasks using Scratch and eventually guide them through making their own video games as a final project.
Students learn how to create digital art using Google Drawings. They learn the elements of design and work with graphics, colors, and fonts to create advertisements, posters, and other media.
Students learn to apply the mathematical principles of measurement and scaling along with basic arthecechual concepts. Using Goodle drawing tools they design houses and other buildings using papercraft models and add them to our growing town diorama known as Steam Valley.
