PennDOT is partnering with the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) to deliver the AASHTO STEM Outreach Solutions program.
The program exposes Pre-K through 8th grade students to engineering concepts and professions in the transportation and civil engineering fields.
The program includes over 100 activities broken down into four main categories: transportation and energy, roadway geometry, human and nature and designing ways. Activities are aligned with PA STEELS, PA Core Standards for Mathematics, Next Generation Science Standards and Common Core Math Standards. Selected Pre-K through 8th grade teachers will be invited to attend a FREE train-the-trainer event in the Fall of 2025, where they will receive an activity kit complete with lesson plans and all the materials necessary to implement the program in their classrooms.
Trainings will be scheduled during the 2025-2026 school year in the Pittsburgh and Philadelphia regions. Travel expenses to and from the training are not covered by the program. If you are interested in being selected to participate in the program, please submit this form. For additional questions, please email Caroline Grimm.
