Graduation Requirements Overview
Ohio Graduation Requirements - the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce's two-page document that provides an overview of graduation requirements
Complete Courses and Requirements: Ohio law outlines the course requirements all students must complete to earn a diploma. Ohio students must earn a minimum of 20 credits in specified subject areas. Note - BHS requires that students earn a minimum of 21 credits.
Demonstrating Competency: Students must earn a "competency” score on the English Language Arts II and Algebra I (684 or higher). In lieu of attaining competency scores on the state tests, students can choose between four other ways to demonstrate competency following remediation and second test attempts.
Demonstrating Readiness - Graduation Seals: There are twelve (12) diploma seals for students to demonstrate academic, technical and professional readiness for careers, college, the military or self-sustaining professions. Each seal allows students to demonstrate knowledge and skills essential for future success in their chosen post-high school paths. Students demonstrate readiness by earning at least two diploma seals, one of which must be state-defined.
Locally-Defined Graduation Seals: Criteria to attain the three (3) locally-defined graduation seals.
