Polyfest Update

Polyfest Update

Due to COVID-19 and the Government's new rules regarding large gatherings, Polyfest 2020 will be cancelled this year.

We look forward to attending in 2021!

Week 4 - 6

Last week saw the first of our Kapa sessions take place. It is great to be back in the swing of things, seeing old faces and so many new ones - this year is gearing up to be a great year for Kapa at Berkley!

Last week, we focused on whanaungatanga; playing some games and noticing what we are all bringing to our roopu. Ākonga feedback on the session was positive, and we hope to have more of these throughout the year.

We also started 're-learning' a classic waiata, Tutira Mai. For many years, this waiata has been taught and sung incorrectly, without the permission of its composer, Cannon Wiremu Te Tau Huata. To find out more information on this, check out the link and video below:

Through this learning, we are excited to be a part of history where this waiata is sung correctly, and to be able to share this knowledge with you all and future generations.

Nō reira e te whānau, spread the word!
