Yodan Uchi (Four Drum hitting) is one of the most well known and beautiful songs in the genre of kumidaiko. It was written by Sukeroku Taiko now Oedo Sukeroku Taiko, of Tokyo, Japan. After Seiichi Tanaka studied with Sukeroku Taiko in Tokyo, he brought the piece to America where its motif and choreography became widespread. While the piece is copyrighted, its style and motifs remain to be widespread. While we do not have express permission to teach the official song, we believe that as long as we give proper credit and do not perform the piece, we may keep the song, its movements and its motifs, alive.
