Dexter Upload Tool

Dexter, short for Data-EXTensionER, is a self-serve tool for Marketing Cloud that allows users to upload custom data to sendable data extensions for email personalization, automation, and segmentation.

Getting Started

Go to https://dexter.berkeley.edu/
Click on the [ Get Started ] button
Log in using Two-Factor CAS Authentication

Step 1: Select File

Click [ Select File ] button
Browse and select a CSV file, click [ Open ]

Step 2: Details

Enter a Name
Confirm Business unit
Click [ Next ➡ ]

Step 3: Fields

Edit a field name
Select a field type from the dropdown menu
- NOTE: If you’re unsure what to select, leave it as Text
Click [ Next ➡ ]

Step 4: Preview

Click the [ 10 ⌄ ] drop down menu, and select a number
Page through the data by clicking the [ < ] and [ > ] arrows
Click [ Submit ]

Step 5: Upload

Wait while the yellow alert box is displayed
- NOTE: Do not close your browser window
Once the alert changes to green, your upload is complete
Click [ Marketing Cloud Login ]

Final Step: Marketing Cloud

Login to Marketing Cloud by entering your CalNet username and password
Hover over Subscribers in the top menu bar
- Click Data Extensions
Locate the data extension with the name you entered in Step 1.
Verify that the data extension values appear as expected in terms of output, format, and number.
