Our participants range from 4 to 12 years old. We provide partnered schools with permission forms; parents may choose to complete the form and return it to the school. We will only work with children with signed permission forms. If you are a school/teacher/parent affiliated with a school that may be potentially interested in working with us, please email Dr. Miller-Cotto at dmillerc@berkeley.edu and we will reach out to the school.
Parents may also reach out to us if they want their child(ren) to participate at their school or in our lab. Because we have multiple studies available, please sign up using our form below, and we will reach out to you with next steps.
Research managers will work with schools (if participating in school) or with parents to to schedule a visit. We will provide the required paperwork. Research assistants will administer the study; they all have federal federal and state background checks and have completed the required training for human subjects research. Our researchers will work with students one-on-one either in a classroom or in the hallway.
At the start of the study, children will be asked if they assent to playing some games, some of which are on the computer. The child is free to say "no" and they will be escorted back to the classroom without participating in the study. A typical study is about 20-30 minutes long. At the end of the study, the student will be rewarded to take home and escorted back to the classroom.
Each participating child will be given a subject number rather than using their name when we collect our data.
Sign up to be contacted for any of our studies! All children ages 4-12 can sign up. When we have a study for children in your age range, you will be contacted.
