Al/Mn standards were prepared by diluting the original samples in 0.2% nitric acid. For both aluminum and manganese, the desired concentrations were 0.1 ppm, 1 ppm, 4 ppm, 10 ppm. These samples were then observed under MP-AES.
When the samples were presented to the MP-AES machine, the sampling tube was first in the "Wash" Falcon Tube that contained 0.2% nitric acid. From there, the elements of aluminum and manganese were selected for inspection before presenting the standard solutions, wiping the tube in between each transfer. The tea samples were then analyzed in the same fashion before being placed back into the wash solution.
