I graduated from Rice University in 2015 with a B.A. in Linguistics, under the cognitive science track. While at Rice, I took several classes at the graduate level and actively participated in multiple peer tutoring organizations. My senior honors thesis, advised by Professor Michel Achard, considers construals of self and body within a Cognitive Semantics framework. I also did work on discourse & grammar with Professor Robert Englebretson, and functionalist syntax with Professor Matt Shibatani. After that, I began my PhD in Linguistics at UC Berkeley. I've been advised by Professors Susan Lin, Keith Johnson, and Kevin B. McGowan. After graduating with a PhD in Linguistics in 2024, I joined the College of Computing, Data Science, and Society as a Future of Higher Education postdoc. My work with CDSS is focused on providing excellent co-curricular opportunities for undergraduates in research and industry. My faculty mentor is Professor Deb Nolan.
I'm a Cuban American who grew up outside of Houston, Texas. Part of me will always pine for the Gulf Coast. I like dogs (especially my tiny terrier mix) & other animals, horror & sci-fi, and art & DIY. I love games, especially word puzzles, cozy life sims, and point-and-click adventure games.
