Michael Sholinbeck has worked at the UC Berkeley Library since 2001, and is currently the Public Health Librarian and Liaison to the School of Optometry at the Bioscience, Natural Resources & Public Health Library. Michael coordinates public health and optometry instruction at the library, and is responsible for the public health and optometry collections. He is currently on the BPH Anti-Racism Steering Committee, and has been involved in equity work on campus and beyond for many years. Michael has a MLIS from San Jose State University, an MS in Geography from Oregon State University, and a BA in Geography from UC Berkeley. When not at work he lives out his fantasy of being a rock and roll drummer.

Caitlin Green is driven by the opportunity to develop potential, identify new insights, and facilitate meaningful connections for Berkeley Public Health students. She enjoys dynamically serving students, alumni, and employers/community partners to advance the public health workforce. She came to the School of Public Health from the UC Berkeley Career Center, where she earned a Chancellor’s Outstanding Staff Award with her colleagues for a large-scale technology initiative to strengthen the student experience in connecting with employers and applying to opportunities. Caitlin is active in professional associations and has presented at the regional and national levels around pre-health advising and supporting underrepresented students in STEM. A first-generation college student, she earned her master’s in higher education administration from Boston College and her bachelor’s in sociology from UC Berkeley.

Kandis Rodgers is a dedicated career counselor committed to the personal and professional success of students and alumni. An advocate for personal empowerment and social good, Kandis is motivated by seeing students achieve their goals and enhance their communities. Kandis’s approach to working with students is holistic, embracing the whole student during their continuous journey towards career happiness. Prior to joining the School of Public Health, Kandis provided career counseling to graduate students and managed employer relations at Golden Gate University. This provided her the opportunity to develop a unique perspective to career guidance, finding the intersection between student drive and employer need. Kandis’s additional experiences include student leadership development and campus diversity initiatives at Missouri University of Science and Technology. Kandis holds a master’s degree in education with a focus on higher education counseling in addition to a bachelor’s degree in social work, both from Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania.

DD Johnice is a serial entrepreneur and accomplished strategy and innovation executive who has built a successful career in solving problems that matter to my employers, customers, and society. Throughout her 20+ year career, DD has held leadership roles focused on the human and talent, business model, product, technology, and marketing aspects of innovation. As Chief Creative & Strategy Officer of The Wonder Guild, a consultancy she founded in 2000, DD has built a global following of senior leaders whom she advises on systems design and environmental, social, and governance (ESG)-based growth models. Through this, and creative and strategic leadership roles in the healthcare, retail, advertising, media, and professional services industries,
DD has founded new teams and businesses, built new capabilities, integrated newly acquired firms and assets, and led transformative change management efforts. DD currently leads a multidisciplinary team of researchers, clinicians, designers, and strategists as the VP of Health Transformation Lab at Blue Shield of CA. The team partners across the enterprise to design and develop partnerships, products, and services that make healthcare more affordable, equitable, and valuable to members, healthcare providers, and customers. Previously, she led Community Health & Social Innovation at Kaiser Permanente, a $90B integrated health system. She and her team applied technology and startup economy approaches to tackling the social determinants of health and created an affordable housing accelerator to incubate solutions to the health effects of homelessness and housing insecurity. The team also co-designed a system of apps and services to improve access to mental health resources for community college students of color.
DD is fond of saying “innovation is an ecosystem sport”. And through her work and thought leadership, she has developed and nurtured a diverse, global community of innovators who share her passion for technology and a commitment to making the world a healthier, more equitable place.
When not working, DD enjoys spending time with her busy, brilliant daughter, writing, rowing, and collecting cute robots.
