Internship Program
Interns in this program take on a variety of responsibilities to support the SIS UX team. These tasks span the entire software development process, from initial discovery and needs assessment to feature definition and workflow design. Additionally, interns contribute to the development of information architecture, create prototypes, assist with developer handoff, and participate in usability testing and analysis. They also play a part in organizing workshops, conducting outreach, and supporting various events related to the department's activities.

Upon completing the internship, students can expect to gain:
A deeper understanding of UX design principles and research techniques
Practical experience with various UX tools and their real-world applications
Competency in both qualitative and basic quantitative research methods
Skill development in creating wireframes and prototypes
Familiarity with current web standards and best practices
Working knowledge of essential web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
Proficiency in using image manipulation software and analytical tools
Real-world experience in conducting research sessions and compiling reports
Potential for academic credit (subject to specific requirements)
Qualifications
Qualifications
Must be a currently enrolled Berkeley student (undergraduate or graduate)
Must reside in the United States
Experience in positions demanding strong end-user empathy and UX design or research
Effective communication skills and cultural competence within a diverse community
Attention to detail and a strong ability to learn new skills
Ability to work 40 hours/week during the summer and 10 hours/week during the academic year
Successful completion of a UC criminal background check and fingerprinting
Minimum GPA of 2.0 (2.3 preferred)

Most activities can be conducted remotely, with some requiring presence at the SIS offices or on-campus.
