The Workshop is divided in two parts. In Part 1 (weeks 1-6), students will work through the entirety of Keller & Russell's Learn to Read Latin; in Part 2 (weeks 7-10), we will read together original ancient texts, spending two weeks on a prose selection and two weeks on a poetry selection.
The 2026 Workshop will run June 8–August 14, and will be conducted in person only.
Part 1 (weeks 1-6)
Part 1 is a comprehensive introduction to Latin grammar. Students will work through Keller & Russell's Learn to Read Latin. Students will spend six hours each day in class: in the mornings (9:00-12:00), students will review material with the Part 1 instructor and complete drills, as well as daily quizzes; in the afternoons (1:0o-4:00), the director will present new material, which students will prepare and study for the following morning session.
Part 2 (weeks 7-10)
In Part 2, students read original Latin texts. We will spend weeks 7 and 8 reading a prose selection; weeks 9 and 10 will be devoted to reading poetry. Each day, students will prepare assigned passages to be reviewed in class the following morning.
Texts for Part 2 will be announced in June.
