Meeting Place: Fog Bell

Led by Ed Tepporn and Casey Dexter-Lee

In this daylong trip, you will visit the historic Angel Island Immigration Station, including a guided tour of the Detention Barracks where immigrants were incarcerated.

The Angel Island Immigration Station operated from 1910 to 1940 as a facility to enforce the Chinese Exclusion Act and other immigration laws. About half a million immigrants from more than 80 countries passed through its facilities during this time, and racially discriminatory laws and policies led to the detention of immigrants, especially from Asia, for weeks, months, and even years.
