Coral reefs are confined to tropical and semi-tropical waters. Ideally, coral reefs grow in water temperatures between 23-29 Celsius although some can endure growing in water temperature of 40 Celsius for short amount period.
The coral reef biome experiences precipitation. In average, the precipitation in a year is 78.85 which is about 2m but it depends on the location of coral reefs.
Coral Reef, for example Great Barrier Reef, is the largest coral reef system in the world with 2,900 individual reefs. While Australia has typical four seasons, the Great Barrier Reef has only two seasons which are summer and winter. The rainfall and water temperature vary depending on the seasons.
