2024-2025 REGISTRATION INFO COMING SOON!
If you have any questions that cannot be answered below, please feel free to contact us at provitabca@gmail.com. We look forward to hearing from you!
Is the Provita Competition in-person or online?
The Provita Competition is online-based and involves two phases of competition. In the first phase, work is done asynchronously and submitted via email to provitabca@gmail.com. In the second phase, competitors will be given two weeks to create a video that summarizes their project. More details will be announced for those that make it to this highly selective round. Once again, this video is pre-recorded and submitted via email to provitabca@gmail.com. Winners will be contacted by email and prizes will be distributed.
I am international. Can I still participate?
Yes! We highly encourage both domestic and international competitors.
Do we need to create the product?
No! You do not need to create the product, but, if it is already constructed, feel free to include a picture or pictures of the fully-constructed product for examination by our judges. If the product has not already been made, create rough images of what the product would look like, whether on paper and uploaded digitally or through online programs.
I am from Bergen County Academies/Bergen County, can I still participate?
Yes! Those at Bergen County Academies and living in Bergen County can participate just as much as anyone else. There will be no preference as we will review and judge all work blindly.
What is the age range for this competition?
Team members must be ages 11 through 19.
How many people can be in a team? Can two teams work together?
2 to 5 people can be in a team. There will be no individual teams accepted. Please try to look for friends or siblings to involve. Two teams cannot work together and must create separate products.
What does Phase 1 entail?
Phase 1 entails the creation of three paragraphs to summarize the pharmaceutical product and how it works. It also involves creating APA formatted citations and a rough image or real-life picture of the product for feasability purposes. Feel free to include images from other research papers with proper citation. It also involves the business portion. Please check "The Competition" tab with the description and rubric on it for more details. An example will be uploaded and you can also look at our blog for tips!
How should our Phase 1 Project be designed?
Please use either a presentation format (no need for a voice-over), online document, uploaded physical paper, or uploaded physical poster. We will not be taking Google links, even if shared properly! Please submit everything as a PDF!
What does Phase 2 entail?
Phase 2 entails the creation of a pre-recorded video within a two-week deadline that summarizes the entirety of the submitted project. Team members must speak for at least 2 minutes each. The recommended time-frame is 10 minutes, though there is a maximum of 16 minutes.
Who will judge the project?
Projects will be judged by our PhD mentor and adult, published research mentors. Additionally, the Executive Board members and Project Managers will judge each project. The rubric will be heavily relied on.
I just sent you an email? Will I get a confirmation of receipt?
Thank you. It should take us about one week to process your submission. We will email you if it has been received within this time. If it has not, please feel free to email us the submission once more.
I haven't gotten a response about getting to Phase 2/Awards yet? When should I expect this?
We will be reviewing all submissions for three weeks following the Phase 1 deadline and you should expect to receive a response within this time. Any announcements regarding winners should be made three weeks after the two-week video restriction deadline.
