It is a partnership between Baker College (Benzie HS only) and Northwestern Michigan College. During your junior and senior year, you are able to take two college classes per semester, in addition to some high school classes. You are required to complete a 13th year of high school where you will be a full time college student. At the end of the program, you will receive your high school diploma and an associate's degree. Although it is a great way to afford college, depending on your address, extra cost might apply.

Dual Enrollment

Student can earn high school and college credits at the same time, saving time and money. You have to apply to NMC, send your transcripts , and complete the Enrollment Authorization Form. Extra cost apply.

It is a career and technical school with 23 different fields, including health, construction, electrical occupations, to name a few. It is free of cost and can help you to be employed in the future. You can go during your junior and senior year.

The MTA allows Michigan students to transfer specific general education courses from one institution to another, including laboratories for several core classes. For example, U of M might have an English 111 course at 4 credits when NMC has English 111 at 3 credits. You are able to transfer your English 111 from U of M to NMC as English 111 at 3 credits plus 1 writing class, so you are not losing any credits. Research ahead of time and talk to an academic advisor before transferring to ensure your classes transfer.
