Apple Glen Families-
February has finally arrived and Spring is just around the corner. As family schedules begin to get a little busier, we ask that you try to maintain a good routine with reading each night with your child. The "All Bentonville Reads" campaign comes at a good time and makes it easy for us to read as a family.
This month is also Black History Month. Students will learn about various events and will celebrate historic African Americans. I encourage you to talk with your child about the lessons they are learning. If you have an interest in supporting this learning, feel free to reach out to your child's teacher. While COVID restrictions have made it difficult to have visitors in our building, many teachers are using Google Meets to connect students with presenters.
Sincerely,
Tracey Wood
Principal
Dear Parents,
I am so excited to begin our book, The Wild Robot by Peter Brown for our annual All Bentonville Reads. This reading event was formerly known as One District One Book. All students and staff in our Bentonville Elementary Schools will be reading the same book on the same schedule. Students were given a book and reading schedule to follow from me on Friday, January 29th. I will be discussing dress-up days, a design your own recycled robot contest to be done at home, and a virtual district celebration in March.
There is so much to love about this book! Students will fall in love with Roz the robot as she learns to make friends and survive in a forest full of animals. Elementary school librarians try to choose a book every year that will appeal to kids from kindergarten up to fourth grade. This year's book is a great one, but I want to advise parents of our younger students to read ahead. When you have science fiction joined with animal survival and adventure, some parts may be hard for our littles to understand, especially in the final chapters. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact me at globik@bentonvillek12.org. Enjoy reading with your family!

STEP 1 : Pre-Registration – February 1, 2021 (8:00am) -February 12, 2021 (3:00pm)
Parents of kindergarten students residing in the Bentonville School District with a student five (5) years of age on or before August 1, 2021, may begin online pre-registration at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, February 1, 2021. Online registration will close at 3:00 p.m. Friday, February 12, 2021. The online registration is a pre-registration only and students will not be considered enrolled until parents provide the documents needed to complete their child’s registration, uploaded to their zoned school during final registration. Once you complete the pre-registration process, you will receive a confirmation with information regarding next steps.
**Online pre-registration link will be live at 8:00am on February 1, 2021.
STEP 2 : Enrollment forms are to be filled out after you have received the Step 1 confirmation e-mail.
S TEP 3 : Final Registration
Final registration for pre-registered kindergarten students will be online from March 1, 2021 at 8:00 a.m. through March 3, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. with the student’s zoned school. Your school’s registrar will be available by phone at these times March 1 st from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00p.m., March 2 nd from 8:00 a.m. and March 3 from 7:00a.m. to 12:00p.m. Only students who are pre-registered will be able to complete enrollment during these times. Please note if your school assignment was a school that had to run a lottery and you did not complete the final registration process, we will have to call the next student on the waiting list to enroll and you will have to enroll during general enrollment in April.
Visit the Bentonville Schools Homepage for information regarding documents needed to complete enrollment.
Kindergarten sections in our schools are limited. Pre-registration does not guarantee a student a class placement in the school until you have received confirmation to complete enrollment and this process is completed. If requests are greater than the number of classes available in any of our schools, then a lottery will be used to assign students.
*Please know that you are not able to select the virtual learning program at this time. In the near future, all parents of Bentonville Schools (K-12) will have the opportunity to apply for the virtual learning program. At this time, the enrollment process for your kindergarten student is solely to enroll in the school district.
All kindergarten students who are not pre-registered may enroll during General Enrollment beginning on April 1, 2021 at the school they are zoned, during regular school hours.
Click on this link if you want to verify which school your student is zoned for based on your property address.
If you choose to waive kindergarten enrollment for the 2021-2022 school year, please complete and submit a Kindergarten Waiver to the Student Services office.
