Reminders
Dress Code by Day
Workshops Foundation programs have a dress code. Bentley’s dress code also applies throughout the trip. As you plan, keep in mind we will be walking a lot so all footwear should be very comfortable… and it could be chilly! The weather in DC at this time of year can range from the 30s to the 70s.
CONFIRMED DRESS CODE BY DAY:
Monday, April 1: Casual
Tuesday, April 2: Business Casual
Wednesday, April 3: Professional
Thursday: April 4 : Professional
Friday, April 5: Casual
Casual means students may wear whatever is comfortable for them. Business casual means a tailored or tidy look - slacks, collared shirts/blouses, sweaters, comfortable dresses/skirts, and neat-looking footwear. Professional indicates more conservative business wear - suits/blazers.
Masks - Please plan to bring some face masks. They may not be required but this is just in case we run into a situation where you need or want one.
Cell Phone Policy
Due to the nature of the trip, students will be permitted to bring and use cell phones.
All students will be provided a chaperone and school phone number for use throughout the trip.
Students may not use cell phones or other devices to record each other without permission or post any content about their location (geotag).
Cell phone use is not permitted without permission during guided tours, performances, or when being addressed by a chaperone. Students will follow all expectations set out in the Workshop Standards.
Students should not be using cell phones or devices for entertainment, such as YouTube, scrolling through social media platforms, or group chat rooms.
Cell phones and devices will be collected each evening at the designated lights-out time. Devices will be held overnight by a hallway chaperone and available for student use as needed. Every hotel room has a landline phone for use in emergencies.
All school rules and expectations of technology use apply on the field trip, including but not limited to the Code of Conduct, Acceptable Use Policy, and Core Values.
Spending Money
Breakfast and dinner each day, gratuities and taxes, all entrance fees, and ticketed events are covered by program tuition.
We recommend students travel with approximately $250 in spending money (cash, debit, or pre-paid debit card). This includes approximately $100 for lunches (about $20 per day), airport meals, and spending money for snacks or souvenirs.
Student ID
Students should plan to bring their school-issued ID on the trip.
Medications
Bentley chaperones and Workshops will be carrying basic first aid, acetaminophen, ibuprofen, and antihistamines. Should you require daily medication beyond that, please reach out to healthcoordinator@bentleyschool.org by March 20th. Ms. Parker & Mr. Scott will be able to carry and distribute these on the trip.
Packing/Luggage
We will be checking student luggage both ways. Students are encouraged to pack a carry-on with personal items for the plane. Small purses are fine to carry around on the trip. Approved drawstring backpacks will be provided to all students by Workshops upon arrival in DC.
