Second Grade Students finished off the Bullying Preention Unit by listening to the story "The Ant Bully" and then completing a how to draw activity!
Kindergarten Students listended to the story "Clothesline Clues" to learn about different careers. They then decorated a shirt to show what they wanted to be when they grow up!
Fifth Grade Career Day
The 5th Grade students enjoyed a special Career Day featuring four guest speakers from diverse professions. Kris Day, a car wrap business owner; Steve Farrington, an engineer; Cam Amys, a local artist; and Buck Rasmussen, a former NFL player, each shared insights about their careers and personal journeys. The students were engaged and asked thoughtful questions throughout the event.

Who would have thought that something as simple as a crayon could offer powerful lessons in acceptance, diversity, and individuality—lessons that resonate across all environments, from home to school to the workplace.
In a recent lesson, third-grade students explored the impact of their words, discussing how negative comments and put-downs can deeply hurt others. To symbolize this, they broke a crayon—an impactful reminder of the power words hold.
Following this, the students used the broken crayons to create a piece of art, illustrating that even from hurtful moments, something meaningful and beautiful can emerge. It was a creative and inspiring way to reinforce the idea that mistakes and negativity don’t have to define the outcome.

Engagement vs Disengagement
Students learned about how their emotions and feelings can affect their ability to learn in class. We discussed different ways that students can become "disengaged" in their learning and talked about different ways that they can become "engaged." Ask your children about the experiment we did in class to show how one disengaged student can interrupt the learning environment for all students. If you want to do this at home, we used:
1 cup of water, 1 tablespoon of baking soda and 1/2 cup of vinegar. (we did add uncooked popcorn, but that is not necessary)
Check out the activities and projects that students completed last year in their guidance classes. Stop by often as we will continue to add new student work from this year!
3rd Graders have empathy
Like owls, they use their eyes to see what is going on in the world around them.
They use this skill to help others by doing kind acts to cheer them up.
This skill helps students build friendships!
2nd grade students have been working on having empathy and doing kind acts for each other.
Kindergarten students are learning what it takes to be kind! They listened to a song about Kindness and then made these adorable "Little Spots of Kindness."
Second grade students have been learning about empathy! We discussed how having empathy for someone can lead to doind a kind act! In this activity, students selected kind words (marshmallows) to put in their cup of hot cocoa!
