Liberty High School's Virtual Counseling Office

A little about me!

Thank you for visiting my virtual counseling office! My name is Celeste Dacanay (formerly Sexton). I am a Benicia native and attended Benicia schools from kindergarten through high school. I attended Diablo Valley Community College, then transferred to Sonoma State University to earn my bachelor's degree in psychology. After spending two years in the workforce, I decided to go back to Sonoma State and earn my master's degree in Pupil Personnel Services (also known as a degree in School Counseling). This is my third year practicing as a school counselor and I'm excited to serve our community!

What do school counselors do?

My mission as a school counselor is to support and prepare ALL students on campus in their journey to adulthood. I do this by implementing the ASCA (American School Counseling Association) national developmental standards in the area of academic, personal/social and career domains. Here is a bit more about my role.

You are welcome to contact me directly via email at cdacanay@beniciaunified.org.
