Bobcat Bolt
The Bobcat Bolt has been hosted by Ben Franklin PTO annually for several years. It's a great combination of fun, fitness and fundraising! Students love the challenge of running (or walking) laps to win exciting prizes and parents and teachers love that the money raised is used toward materials, resources and/or activities that directly benefit students.
Our 2022 Bobcat Bolt raised $17,090 and $17,936 in 2021! Students earned the ability to make former Principal, Mary Shannon into a human ice cream sundae, Slime Second-grade teacher, Mrs. Wood, earn free passes to Field Workshop in Greendale, book bucks for the Scholastic book fair and much more!
Why are we raising money?
The 2023 Bobcat Bolt fundraising goal is $15,000 to improve our flexible learning spaces throughout the school. All kids learn in differnt ways and have unique needs. Some students need a quiet place to think or calm down, some need a space that allows them to move and burn off energy in order to stay focused and others need collaborative spaces for group learning.
Flexible learning spaces make use of customizable furniture and equipment that teachers and students can rearrange and modify daily to meet their individual learning needs. An activity area today could be transformed into a quiet place for reading or writing tomorrow. Flexible learning spaces empower students to explore different approaches to understanding topics and working through curriculum via adaptable and, perhaps most importantly, comfortable design.
Proceeds from this year's Bobcat Bolt will go toward furniture and equipment that will enhance flexible learning spaces in an effort to better meet the needs of our students.
What prizes will students earn?

Give your student a SHOUT-OUT
Give your student(s) a little extra motivation to keep going during the walk/run with a Shout-out! Kids' love to hear their name and special messages from family and friends during this event. Be on the lookout for the Shout-out form coming soon! Ben Franklin's gym teacher, Mr. Devine will use his mighty megaphone to share your message. Each Shout-out is $5 and will help students work toward the all school fundraising goal.
Additional Details
Fundraising will be open from September 20 - October 12 and the actual run/walk event will take place on Friday, October 6th during the school day.
This year, again, we will not be using pledge sheets. Cash or checks are still welcome. Online donations are preferred.
Students are asked to wear a colored t-shirt that corresponds with their race bib. Here is a list of t-shirt colors by classroom:
Red: Magner 4k (AM) and (PM), Boris/Batayias 1st, Gaedtke 3rd, Gross 4th
Black: Lipka Kdgn, Borchers 2nd, Caya 5th
Yellow: McNelly Kdgn, Wood 2nd, Busniewski 5th
Blue: Lira 1st, Kim 1st, Burmeister 3nd, Balson 5th
Parent volunteers will be offering water and fruit post walk/run.
