The Track season will run for eight weeks, starting on March 31st and concluding in May. Practices are scheduled for Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.
Practices will commence immediately after school at 4:00 PM at the track and will conclude by 5:30 PM. We kindly ask that you plan to pick up your child no later than 5:35 PM, as there will be no adult supervision available after practice.
During practice, students should store school belongings in the gym
There will be NO practice on Wednesdays. However, We do have a few meets on Wednesdays please see the schedule.
TRACK MEET ELIGIBILITY - The following will be taken into consideration when determining an athlete’s eligibility to participate in TRACK meets:
REGULAR ATTENDANCE and being ON TIME for all practices.
If an athlete is going to miss practice, a note from a parent/guardian is required to excuse the absence or it will be considered an unexcused absence. All athletes will need to be at practice until 5:30 pm or it will be considered a missed practice unless previous communication with coach has been made. A parent email prior to practice day is preferred for an excused absence. If an athlete is injured, they are not to attend practice for that day. Students must be in attendance at school all day to participate in any school-sponsored activity including athletics. The only exception to this OSAA (Oregon School Activities Association) rule is for a doctor or dentist appointment.
***We require athletes to attend at least two practices a week (not including meet days) to be eligible to participate in meets. We have many athletes who participate in more than one sport. However, those who are committed to track find a way to meet this requirement, which often means restricting themselves to only 1 additional sport. It is important that we stay consistent on this policy not only to ensure equity for all participants, but also for the strength of our team.***
EFFORT, positive attitude and sportsmanship throughout the season.
Positive behavior towards teammates, coaches and opponents is expected at all times. The parents/guardians of an athlete who cannot meet these expectations will be contacted.
WANT TO HELP OUT AT PRACTICE?
With anywhere from 175-200 athletes and only four coaches, we simply cannot have a track season without some volunteer help. The volunteer instructions can be found in the link below. Please note the screening process can take up to 2 weeks to complete: https://www.bend.k12.or.us/district/organization/volunteer
We appreciate your willingness to help!
