The transition process from Benchmark into high school can be a daunting process. We hope the resources we provide here will be of help to you. Please reach out to us with questions you may have along this journey.
This resource is a work in progress. We will continue to add to it and welcome suggestions.
Transition Counselor: Dr. Eric MacDonald - Dr. MacDonald is your primary contact in understanding the school search process. Please feel free to email him at ericmacdonald@benchmarkschool.org
School Records & Recommendation Forms: Mrs. Faith Cost in the Benchmark School office will be the person to whom all requests for school records or teacher recommendation forms should be directed. Email requests to faithcost@benchmarkschool.org
Language Arts Teacher (Primary Contact) - Contact your primary language arts teacher contact to help with understanding your child's approach to learning and what your child may need in another school placement. (One of your child's language arts/English teachers will be your primary contact. This person will be determined sometime in September.)
Support Services/Learning Profiles: Dr. Leslie Stein - Dr. Stein is a great resource in helping you to understand your child's learning profile based on recent WISC testing. Please reach out to Dr. MacDonald or Dr. Gensemer (eleanorgensemer@benchmarkschool.org) to set up an appointment to meet with Dr. Stein.
Additional Support: Your child's mentor can be an important source of information in helping you to understand the needs of your child. If your child meets with someone in Child and Family Support Services, that person might be a great resource for particular questions related to your school search process. In addition to the above, you can also call upon Dr. Eleanor Gensemer, Middle School Head, and Mr. Chris Hancock, Head of School, with any questions that might be appropriate to their role.
