Main Ideas
Each main idea relates to part of your thesis or is one big point that proves your thesis.
Most essays have 2, 3 or 4 main ideas/body paragraphs.
Quotes
Most essays have only 1 (maybe 2) quote(s) per paragraph.
Quotes should drive home the main idea about the thesis that the paragraph is about.
Don't use quotes to tell what happened in the story or restate something you could just as well say yourself.
