In the 2022-2023 school year, Ms. Lacasse will be appointing student leaders in the Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, and Symphonic Band. Currently, there are only titled leaders in the marching band.

Musicians are leaders. Student musicians at Belmont High School become some of the most influential students in the school.

The BHS Band Program needs a large number of students to aspire to become leaders within the program. Without a common goal and understanding of what that definition of student leadership in the BHS program actually means, it will not be as effective as possible.

Your skills in band translate to the outside world. No question. These lessons, if taken seriously, will help organize your thoughts and philosophy on leadership.

Every student (even current students who will be hoping to maintain their role next year) will have to pass this “course” on servant leadership in order to apply.

This will be happening during the school day in Symphonic Band classes (purple). If a Wind Ensemble student wishes to participate in the seminar, there will be an after-school option to take the course.
