Belmont Public Schools has been recognized as one of the best communities for music education at both the state and national level. At Chenery Middle School, approximately 400 students in grades 5 through 8 participate in band. In addition to the concert bands that meet during the school day, there are multiple opportunities for students to perform in after-school groups, such as the award-winning Chenery Winds and Jazz Band. The band department is committed to ensuring that students develop strong musical skills and have a fun and memorable experience in band.

We welcome all students into the band program, regardless of prior musical experience. Students have the opportunity to choose from a variety of instruments beginning in fifth grade.
