Here are some reminders to help with making learning from home successful. Have fun with setting up this special space so that your child will look forward to spending time there!
Make a Special School Space. Make sure your child has a safe, quiet area to work. Make sure that your child is comfortable and that they have all their supplies in this area that they will need for learning. Your child's learning space should be at some kind of table or desk just like if they were at school. Your child should not be lying in bed, walking around or lying on the floor during class. Just in case, try to make sure that there is a plug close by to charge the Chromebooks.
When choosing your child's special school space please try to choose a location that does not have a lot of distractions. Try not to be in a room with the television on, with other siblings who might be playing or also learning, or with pets. Also be mindful of what will be in view in the background when your child is learning. This could be very distracting to our other little learners that are seeing your child every morning.
Be dressed and ready for the day. Treat everyday just as if your child was going into the classroom. Please no pajamas.
Chromebooks need to be charged every night. Computers must be transported in designated computer case. Do not remove any labels or cards from the case. Please do not damage, write, or put stickers on the computer case. Do not draw with permanent marker on the case. Carry the case with both handles closed.
Make sure that your child has a comfortable pair of earbuds or headphones to use each day. If your child gets distracted easily one suggestion would be to look for noise blocking headphones to help them focus. Headphones and earbuds that have a built in microphone also would be helpful for your child to communicate virtually.
