Youth Apprenticeship Program
What is Registered Youth Apprenticeship?
Youth Apprenticeships are for students who have explored a career pathway by either taking courses, working in a part-time job or other informal activities, and wish to continue preparing for a career in this pathway. Because of the number of programs of study within the career pathways programs can be personalized to a unit of study . Whether you are planning a limited or expansive post-secondary education after high school, this program may be for you!
Key Components of Youth Apprenticeship
The program is offered one or two years during Junior and/or Senior year.
Part-time jobs match the students career interest.
Students work a minimum of 450 paid work hours per year during part of the school-day, after school, weekends and over the summer. BHS students may earn up to 2 elective credits per year for YA.
Students enroll in pathway-specific concurrent related instruction. In many cases earning industry certifications, dual college credits, advanced placement or credits at post-secondary schools.
Students gain necessary academic, technical, and employment skills needed to build a success career.
Students creates priceless career and network connections.

Step 1
Research Youth Apprentice Career Pathway & Programs
Find a Career Path that Aligns with Your Future Goals.
Step 2
Attendance at ONE Youth Apprentice Information Sessions is required for you and a parent.
Formal Information Nights for the 24-25 school year have concluded. Please contact Mrs. Gartley if you are considering application to program.
Step 3
Second semester Sophomores, Juniors, and first semester Seniors may apply.
The application period for the 24-25 school year was January 2nd- March 15th.
If you have an interest in applying late and have an employer connection contact Mrs. Gartley.
Step 4
After you have completed the YA application components and the county has notified Mrs. Gartley you will be invited to a next steps planning meeting.
Mrs. Gartley will invite you through school email and provide a pass during Blocks 1 or 5.

Contact Mrs. Gartley immediately after you accept a YA job offer at gartleyt@belleville.k12.wi.us
An Employment Training Agreement ( ETA) Meeting is needed and paperwork signed to register you as a Youth Apprentice and get you off to a great start.
Mrs. Gartley will send you the link to sign up for your ETA meeting after you contact her.
Belleville Youth Apprentices
The Youth Apprenticeship Program includes a personalized plan of specific courses and paid on-job training during the school day focused on preparation of the students college and career interests.
During the 2023-24 school year Belleville enrolled 19 Youth Apprentices in paid positions working with one or more mentors who will work with them to gain hands-on technical skills in their chosen career pathway. Apprentices also are enrolled in courses and or are earning certifications that align with their specific program.
Since 2014 more than 110 Juniors and Seniors have participated in the program and completed earning an industry credential in one of many career pathway programs. Many Apprentices still have employment connections to their high school YA employers today.
