Below you will find links to literature, other Alcoholics Anonymous websites, and information that we hope will help you find your way. If you have any questions, please talk with us before or after meetings and we'll be happy to try and answer your questions.
Some suggestions:
Attend as many meetings as possible. Go to many groups -- try other meetings. Check out face to face meetings -- they're different than online meetings. Most of us were told to go to 90 meetings in 90 days. Many of us did more than that because, especially in the beginning, it can be rough getting through a whole day without picking up a drink. The "Meeting Guide App" (see link below) that can help you find AA meetings and resources near you.
Get a phone list and call other members. Call us often. Get to know us and what we have here.
Get a sponsor! There's a great pamphlet "Questions and Answers on Sponsorship" (see the link below) that can help you find out about sponsorship.
Remember we do this ONE DAY AT A TIME! Sometimes, one minute at a time.
This is a "We" thing. We don't have to do this alone, we stay sober together.
OPEN meetings are available to anyone with an interest in Alcoholics Anonymous or alcoholism. If you were sent by the court, are a student needing to attend meeting(s) for a class, or just curious about alcoholism or Alcoholics Anonymous, you are welcome to attend OPEN meetings.
CLOSED meetings are specifically limited to persons with a desire to stop drinking. If you have a desire to stop drinking, you are welcome to attend closed meetings.
We especially ask that you respect the anonymity, confidentiality and privacy of anyone attending ANY meeting
of Alcoholics Anonymous; open or closed.
Keep in mind no one person speaks for Alcoholics Anonymous as a whole. Each group (and each member) of AA is autonomous.
Beginner's Group has a primary purpose -- to try and help anyone suffering from a drinking problem find freedom from alcohol. We have found a common solution — the program of Alcoholics Anonymous. To those ends, we have provided information throughout this site to help new persons and members locate and attend our meetings where we share individual experience, strength and hope.
If you have a problem with alcohol, Alcoholics Anonymous has a solution that we will freely share with you. We don’t charge anything for this solution, and AA never will. We are self-supporting through our own voluntary contributions, which is what pays for meeting space and this site. Our group is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, or organization. We do not wish to engage in any controversy, neither endorses nor opposes any cause. Our primary purpose is to stay sober, and help other alcoholics achieve sobriety.
Welcome! We’re glad you’re here!
