Spelling Words

7. We rode the bikes home.  

Phonics sounds & skills: Long vowel o like in rope.  Magic e is at the end which makes vowels  say their name. 

Irregular/High Frequency Words: Students will use these words in sentences on the test.

Comprehension skill: Compare and Contrast: (compare tells how things are alike; contrast tells how they are different.  Words such as both, like, and as can help readers compare information.  Words such as but and unlike can help readers contrast information.)

Conventions skill:  Review Nouns: A noun names a person, place, animal, or thing.  A common noun is any person, place, animal, or thing. A proper noun names a specific person, place, animal, or thing. Proper nouns begin with a capital letter. A singular noun describes one person, place, animal, or thing. A plural noun describes more than one  person, place, animal, or thing. Plural nouns will end with -s or -es. 

Math skill:  We will apply the counting on strategy to subtract within 10.  We will model the counting on strategy using physical and visual models.  We will connect the counting on strategy to an equation.

Social Science/Social Studies Skills:  In Social Science, we will conclude our study of Parent and Offspring Behavior, and begin our study of Camouflage and Animal Survival.  In Social Studies,  we will continue our study of Chapter 2-Louisiana’s Geography, where we will learn more about the different regions of Louisiana, including which region is made up of prairies and marshes.                                                                                                                                                                                                           

Homework: *All homework must be completed at home and turned in the next day!

Monday- Virtual Day: Complete Packet

Tuesday- Write spelling words 2 times each, Reading passage worksheet and math worksheet. 

Wednesday- Write spelling words 2 times each and math worksheet.   

Thursday- Write spelling words 2 times each and math worksheet, Sight Word Test 

Friday- Math Test 

Oct. 12-16 Fall Break: No School
