Welcome Back to School! 

Mrs. Johnson's 1st Grade Class

Hello, my name Sherri Johnson.  I am very excited to be teaching your child here at Beekman Charter School for the upcoming school year.  Please understand the importance of attendance, completing daily homework assignments, as well as preparing for weekly tests.  As such, we want to work together to assure that your child succeeds this school year.  Your child's education is of the utmost importance to me; therefore, my goal is to provide a positive environment for all of my students to learn.  

Your child will be provided a folder at the beginning of the school year to take home daily, consisting of homework, classwork, as well as any other important information that may require attention.  PLEASE check your child's folder daily.  Your child's classwork is usually kept in one section of the folder, which should be removed and kept at home.  PLEASE return your child's folder each day.  Your child's conduct sheet will be sent home daily, which should be signed and/or initialed by that particular day, and returned in your child's folder the next day.  

Our class "Week at a Glance" or WAG will be in your child's folder (back pocket of the folder), which details each week's schedule of instruction.  This document is sent home on Friday for the upcoming week.  Keep in mind that the WAG can also be accessed on my website.  

Test folders are sent home on Wednesday of each week.  Please review your child's tests and sign and/or initial where noted.  Please return the test folder, and all tests, the following day.  

Once again, I cannot express enough how enthusiastic and passionate I am to be teaching your child.  I find great joy in helping others, especially little children, hence my 1st graders.  I will strive to have a positive, inspiring impact on your child and the lives of all children.  In essence, these children will not only be on my "class roster" but will become a part of my heart. 

I will be available to return phone calls during my planning period daily between 11:35 am and 12:25 pm or after school hours.  Feel free to send me an email, or preferably a message in Remind.  I will do my best to respond to email and/or phone calls the same day, absent any unforeseen circumstances.  If it is not an urgent matter, please leave a message with the school office at 318-281-1743.  If you need to change the way your child is going home on a given day, please send a note with your child, or let me know by email or Remind, BEFORE calling the office.  If you do not get a response from me in a timely manner, simply call the office directly.
