Week at a Glance

                                                         Week of April 7, 2026

ELA-  

Phonics:  We will review for our DIBELS assessment that we will take next week.  Please practice the DIBELS materials that have been sent home. 

Sight Word: no new words

Previously Learned Words: I, the, and, is, a, as, said, to, do, of, see, he, be, me, from, look, book, are, was, you, what, have, your, want, no, go, so

Handwriting: We will practice writing all letters correctly and practice writing sentences from dictation. 

Reading: We will read “An Extraordinary Egg”  and will discuss the story elements and recall details.  

Math- We will begin to understand teen numbers. 

Social Studies-  We will continue our unit on “Being a Part of a Community”. 

A few notes and reminders: 

• Dibels and Numeracy assessments are on April 13th.  Please practice at home each night. 

• BCS “Pizza Pig Out” at Johnny’s Pizza is Tuesday, April 7 from 5:00 to 8:00. 

• Kindergarten students will not attend school April 27 through May 1st. They will return on Monday, May 4th.  Kindergarten teachers and classrooms are needed for state testing. Your child will recieve a packet to complete at home and return. 

• Our 4th 9 weeks/ FINAL test will be given the first week of May. Your child MUST score 85% or higher in READING AND MATH to promote to 1st grade. 

• Please send a snack and refillable plastic water bottle with your child EVERY day. 

• Send extra clothes in your child’s backpack, labeled with their name in a ziploc, in case of an accident. These can be left in their cubbies.

• Sign up for Mrs. Cheek’s Remind by texting @bcsk-cheek to 81010.

• Students are marked tardy if they arrive in class after 7:40.

• According to school dress code, jackets must be solid black, grey, or navy with no hood. Please make sure you write your name somewhere in their items.
