Students in grades 6-8 have the opportunity to take ownership of the enrichment opportunities they select for the school year. From in-school mini-sessions, field trips, and workshops to off-campus enrichment opportunities, there are many ways for students to get involved and enrich their learning at school.
Students will participate in a leadership workshop and then spend two hours working at Master Provisions.
Students will travel to Lexington Living Arts and Science Center to learn about the brain.
Cincinnati Shakespeare Company will be at Beechwood to teach students about improvisation.
A professor from Thomas Moore will be at Beechwood to lead students through creative writing exercises.
Students will work in teams to build planes that must carry different weights.
Students will work in small groups to solve problems on the spot.
Students will take a field trip the the American Sign Museum in Cincinnati. They will learn about the history of neon signs and how they are used for branding.
Students will head to Spooky Hollow Farms where they will be learning about journaling and art. Students will create watercolor paintings of their findings, hike, and learn how to use journaling as a technique to record observations and experiences.
Students will take a trip to Immersive Gamebox. While there, they will learn about the science and math involved in video gaming. After learning the technology, students will be involving in using that knowledge to try various games.
Students identified in the arts will have the opportunity to spend a few hours attending workshops in their art form with other Northern Kentucky students.
Eighth grade leadership students will have the opportunity to attend Leadership Day at the Holocaust and Humanity Center. They will work with other students around the areas to build leadership capacity.
Several in-school workshops will be offered for students in all academic areas. These workshops will be hands-on, creative, and involve critical thinking skills.
Additional opportunities include Byrdseed activities and Noetic Math challenges.
