Meet Our Team

Jennifer Wayne-Bartlett

Literacy Specialist

I have loved working at Davis School for over twenty years. I began my teaching career in the Capital District of Albany, New York. It was here that I fell in love with first grade and the reading process. After completing my M.S. Ed in Reading from the State University of New York at Albany, I moved to Massachusetts and continued to teach first grade for four more years. After starting my family, I briefly taught kindergarten before switching to the role of Reading Specialist.

My current position allows me to work with students and teachers across kindergarten, first, and second grades in the realm of literacy. I am frequently reminding my students of how lucky I am that I get to do one of my favorite things all day long... read and be read to!

   Literacy Specialist

Reading has been a passion of mine since childhood and was a large influence on my decision to pursue a career as a teacher. I graduated from Westfield State University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education and went on to teach Kindergarten for two years before heading to first grade. During my time in first grade, I went back to school and obtained my Masters as a Reading Specialist from Lesley University in 2010. I spent 15 years as a classroom teacher at the primary level before switching roles to become a Literacy Specialist in 2021.

My favorite aspects of being a teacher of reading, whether in the classroom or in a specialist role, are sharing my love of reading with students, reading aloud to them, and seeing the growth they make as readers themselves.  I hope that my students develop the passion for reading that I had as a child and get a chance to come across literature that they love and can connect with. When not teaching, I enjoy cooking, exercising, and spending time with my husband, kids, and dog, Gordie.

Julie Sutton

Literacy Specialist

From an early age, I knew I wanted to be an educator: whether it was playing school as a child or tutoring younger children as a teen. I graduated from Gordon College in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education. After teaching kindergarten for two years in Lowell, I began teaching second grade at Davis. In 2011, I earned my Masters in Reading and Language  from UMASS Lowell and changed to my current role as a Literacy Specialist in 2014.

Early and emergent literacy have always been passions of mine. Helping children grow from pre-readers to confident readers brings me such joy. When not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my husband and three children: Fiona, Lorelai, and Oliver.

Jocelyn Mason

Literacy Specialist

I have always known I wanted to teach. After graduating from Dartmouth College in 2005, I moved out to California and taught 1st and 4th grade for 10 years in Palo Alto.  I spent the next several years as a K-5 bilingual literacy coach before moving back to the East Coast to get my master’s degree in Language & Literacy at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. I have been part of the Davis School reading team since 2020.

I am passionate about literacy and coming alongside young students as they learn to read and enjoy books. Outside of school, I enjoy hiking, reading, cooking, and spending time with my husband and our three children: Lynn, Peter, and Andrew.
