Summer Reading 2023

Keep Reading, McKelvie!

Don't Stop Reading, McKelvie!

I wish our rising 7th graders all of the best as you transition to Ross A. Lurgio Middle School! Mrs. Detwiler, the RAL Librarian, is excited to meet and work with you in the beautiful Ross A. Lurgio Media Center. The books and I will miss you as you move on!

To our rising 5th and 6th graders, I can't wait to work with you! Please feel free to use this page to help drive your summer reading. Summer reading is the best type of reading because YOU get to choose what you want to read, listen to, and relax with. There are no assigned texts for our students. Read what you want, where you want, and when you want. Enjoy your reading freedom and read what you love.

Have a safe and wonderful summer filled with great adventures in reading.

~Mrs. Cote

Summer Reading is the BEST Kind of Reading!

YES, the McKelvie Library will be open during the summer. Please join Mrs. Cote, as well as other McKelvie staff members, for four Relax & Read events. YES, you can check out books and return them at another Relax & Read event or when school begins in late August. These are drop-in events... Stay the whole time or drop in to say hello and check out books! There will be cool treats available, book raffles, and plenty of newly released titles to check out during the times below! The McKelvie courtyard will be open for those students who would like to read outdoors, weather permitting.

Drop off will be clearly labeled and students (parents/caregivers and siblings are welcome too) will enter the doors closest to the library. If you are dropping your child off, there will be a sheet you need to sign. There is no preregistration needed. I hope to see many readers!

Reading is a relationship. It doesn't start with an initiative, log, or packet. It starts with a consistent connection to books.
