There are many different techniques that can be used for a remote workspace. However, it would be most beneficial for your student to have a separate, quiet area to do work.
Find a place in your home which will be their “space.” A desk, the kitchen table, or a comfortable chair (not a spinning office chair). Make sure to limit distractions such as phones, TV, siblings, and/or pets!
Maintaining organization is critical as well, as a cluttered workspace can be overwhelming for anyone. Encouraging a clean workspace, only working on one task at a time will be helpful for getting work done.
Utilizing a privacy folder will feel like school and can serve as a place to have reminders and schedules posted.
You can make this out of a trifold poster you can find at an office supply store. You could also use a couple of folders taped together!
Go through the binders and backpack each week and clean out any papers that are no longer needed. Have your student show you assignments on Google Classroom and use an agenda or Google Calendar to keep track of work and deadlines.
