Google Classroom is a free, web-based platform that acts as a digital headquarters for schoolwork. It connects teachers, students, and parents by keeping assignments, course materials, class announcements, and teacher feedback all organized in one place.
In Grades 3-12:
For Parents & Guardians: Staying in the Loop
Google Classroom makes it easy to monitor academic progress without needing to guess what homework is due.
Guardian Email Summaries: Guardians don't log directly into the student classroom interface. Instead, teachers send an email invitation linking your account to your child.
Custom Frequency: You can choose to receive automated email digests either daily or weekly.
What Summaries Include:
Missing Work: Assignments that were not submitted by the due date.
Upcoming Work: Assignments due today/tomorrow (daily emails) or in the coming week (weekly emails).
Class Activity: Recent class announcements and assignments posted by teachers.
Viewing Detailed Grades: Email summaries show completed and missing tasks, but to see specific grades or detailed teacher feedback, log in alongside your child on their school account and open their Classwork tab.
All announcements, assignments, and other information is posted through Google Classroom. The guardian email summary feature from Google Classroom will be available for interested parents/guardians of students. This allows parents/guardians of students to receive an email sent either daily or weekly (depending on parent/guardian choice), giving an overview of what has been shared out and completed by the student.
In order for parents/guardians to receive the email, they must accept an invitation to start the process. Parents/Guardians receive "view only" access to the Classwork page. Parents are not able to "join classroom" like students can. If parents want to see their child’s work, their child would need to log into their account to show that work. For more information on Email Guardian Summaries, view the presentation.
