Intro to Clusters

Every event in DECA falls under 1 of 5 clusters

Each cluster has events that revolve around the fundamental principles of its cluster’s title: events in the marketing cluster focus on marketing to consumers, those in the finance cluster center around financial aspects of maintaining a business, and so forth. Try thinking about which area is most interesting for you!

Business Administration

Business administration involves planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating business functions essential to efficient and productive business operations. Potential career pathways include administrative services, business information management, corporate management, human resources, and operations management. Key concepts include operations, law and ethics, contracts, and emotional intelligence.

Finance

Finance involves planning, services for financial and investment planning, banking, insurance, and business financial management. Potential career pathways include banking, credit analysts, accounting, financial planners, and insurance representatives. Key concepts include financial risk, leasing, math, and investments.

Marketing

Marketing involves planning, managing, and performing marketing activities to reach organizational objectives. Potential careers include sales associate, sales managers, public relations, and real estate. Key concepts include promotion, sales, wants, and needs.

Hospitality & Tourism

Hospitality and Tourism involves management, marketing, and operations of restaurants and other food/beverage services, lodging, attractions, recreation events, and travel-related services. Potential careers include restaurant manager, travel agent, hotel staff, pilot, chef, and more. Key concepts include service, recreation, customer service, and recreation.

Entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurship involves anything from business start up plans, to how to manage your own company. Students will be challenged to perform the ability to recognize opportunities and to act on them, determine needs, identify markets, utilize marketing research, identify sources of capital and use management skills.
