Sight Word Fun for K-3:

  • One of the teachers I follow on instagram posted these 3 simple, fun activty ideas to practice sight words. I know some of you have inquired for more ways to teach the sight words and when this popped up on my Instagram I knew I had to share. Her ideas are engaging, fun and very simple to recreate. Also, I am going to attach some PALS quick check word lists below for you to access. I think these will be more user friendly and manageable for choosing sight/high frequency words than the Fry list. My advice is, show your child the list and point to each word. If your child says the word quickly, check off that it is mastered. If your child cannot read the word quickly or needs to decode it, then these are the words you should begin using sight word instruction activities with. If you need more guidance on choosing words (no more than 6-8 at a time), please reach out and I will answer your questions.
