About Me:

I am so excited to start the 2020-2021 school year at Boonsboro Elementary! Before becoming the Reading Specialist last January, I taught in Campbell County for 20 and a half years. My two previous decades in education were spent teaching first and second grade, which is where I developed my passion for helping students learn to read. I'm very excited to be working with the wonderful students at Boonsboro Elementary.

In the Reading Center, I provide supplemental reading support in addition to the reading instruction students receive in the classroom. My instruction is intended to provide those students who need it, with the opportunity to progress at an accelerated rate. My small groups meet everyday. We read books, study words, learn phonic rules and reading strategies, write, and play lots of games, too! Last year I had to amazing opportunity to be trained in providing Orton Gillingham based strategies and I love bringing in these strategies to help my students in small groups. And now a little more about me personally. My husband, Hunter and I have one mischievous, sweet, spoiled fur-baby named Sophie. When I have free time I enjoy reading, shopping, listening to music and cheering for my favorite football team...the Alabama Crimson Tide! ROLL TIDE!
