At Jefferson Forest High School, we are proud to offer a wide range of visual arts coursework, comprehensive and challenging curricula, and a variety of media experiences. Our art students also enjoy several opportunities to participate in local, state, and national exhibits and contests!
TEACHERS
Ms. Jennifer Tonkins (jtonkins@bedford.k12.va.us)
This is Ms. Tonkins' twelfth year teaching at Jefferson Forest High School and her twenty-second year teaching at the high school level. Before coming to JF, she had experience teaching many disciplines and levels of art, including: Art I, Art II, Crafts, Ceramics, Sculpture, AP Studio Art, and International Baccalaureate Art & Design. Ms. Tonkins attended Virginia Commonwealth University, where she earned a BFA in Painting & Printmaking with a minor in Art History, and a BFA in Art Education. Ms. Tonkins loves teaching at JF, where there are so many interesting, fun, cool, and hard-working students!
Personal statement: "I love ART and the creative process, and I hope to transmit this enthusiasm to my students."

This is Mrs. Brumfield's fourth year teaching at Jefferson Forest High School and her sixth year teaching overall. Before coming to JF, she had experience teaching 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade Art, as well as Adaptive Art. Mrs. Brumfield has experience teaching ceramics, printmaking, and a variety of 2-D drawing techniques. She attended Virginia Commonwealth University, where she earned a BFA in Art Education, with a concentration in Painting and Printmaking. Mrs. Brumfield believes that one of the best things a person can receive is an education, and art is one of the most important ways people tell us how they view the world.
Personal statement: "Those who can, do. Those who can do more, teach."
