January, 2024:  Addisen Palmer wins 3rd Place in the senior division, including a $30 gift prize, for her drawing of Glimpse into the Past of the Battery Creek Canal Lock in the Preservation Virginia's Historic Places Art Contest.  


January, 2024:  Makenzie Barker wins 1st Place in the senior division, including a $30 gift prize, for her drawing of Shelton Cottage in the Preservation Virginia's Historic Places Art Contest.  


April, 2023:  Elise Brady wins "Best of Show" for her pastel drawing Spare Me at the annual Bedford County High Schools Art Show held at the Bower Center for the Arts in Bedford, Virginia.


April, 2023:  JF wins the "Outstanding High School Art" award at the fifth annual University of Lynchburg High School Art Show.  This award was given for best overall representation among 8 participating area high schools.


April, 2023:  Elise Brady wins 1st Place and a $100 gift certificate for her pastel drawing Radiance at the fifth annual University of Lynchburg High School Art Show.


April, 2023:  Lovey Hertzberg wins 2nd Place and a $100 gift certificate for her graphite pencil drawing Precision at the fifth annual University of Lynchburg High School Art Show.


January, 2023:  Elise Brady wins a Gold Key for her graphite pencil drawing Let Me Be, a Gold Key for her charcoal pencil drawing Tea Time, and a Gold Key for her pastel drawing Spare Me at the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards U.S. East Region-at-large competition.

May, 2022:  Elise Brady wins "Best of Show" for her graphite pencil drawing Let Me Be at the annual Bedford County High Schools Art Show held at the Bower Center for the Arts in Bedford, Virginia.


April, 2022:  JF wins the "Outstanding High School Art" award at the fourth annual University of Lynchburg High School Art Show.  This award was given for best overall representation among 8 participating area high schools.


April, 2022:  Elise Brady wins a Merit Award and a $100 gift certificate for her graphite pencil drawing Let Me Be at the fourth annual University of Lynchburg High School Art Show.  Elise was one of only four students to receive this award.


April, 2022:  Alyssa Nazigian wins a Merit Award and a $100 gift certificate for her acrylic painting Women's Oppression: Lack of Control and for her acrylic painting I Remain Waiting at the fourth annual University of Lynchburg High School Art Show.  Alyssa was one of only four students to receive this award.


April, 2022:  Hannah Wright wins a Merit Award and a $100 gift certificate for her colored pencil drawing Lab Test and for her charcoal pencil drawing Innocent Fighter at the fourth annual University of Lynchburg High School Art Show.  Hannah was one of only four students to receive this award.


January, 2022:  Alyssa Nazigian wins a Silver Key for her ceramic sculpture The No-fun House at the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards U.S. East Region-at-large competition.


January, 2022:  Hannah Wright wins a Gold Key for her digital photo Nature's Canvas at the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards U.S. East Region-at-large East competition.


May, 2021:  Diem Trinh wins 1st Place for his graphite pencil drawing Face Behind the Mask at Virginia's 5th District Congressional Art Competition.  As 1st Place winner, Diem's drawing was displayed at the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. from August, 2021 - May, 2022.


March, 2021:  Diem Trinh wins the high school level 1st Place award for his graphite pencil drawing Face Behind the Mask at the VSBA (Virginia School Boards Association) Southern Region Art Competition.


January, 2021:  Diem Trinh wins a Silver Key for his graphite pencil drawing Face Behind the Mask at the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards U.S. Southeastern Region-at-large competition.


February, 2020:  Abi Monteclaro wins a Merit Award and a $100 gift certificate for her mixed media design Unzipped at the third annual University of Lynchburg High School Art Show.  Abi was one of only four students to receive this award.


February, 2020:  Sophia Rosado wins a Merit Award and a $100 gift certificate for her charcoal pencil drawing While You Were Sleeping at the third annual University of Lynchburg High School Art Show.  Sophia was one of only four students to receive this award.


January, 2020:  Madeline Clay wins a Gold Key for her charcoal pencil drawing Into the Light at the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards U.S. Southeastern Region-at-large competition.


January, 2020:   Savannah Gale wins a Silver Key for her mixed media illustration Lost in Thought at the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards U.S. Southeastern Region-at-large competition.


January, 2020:  Jack Peterson wins a Gold Key for his colored pencil drawing Method Acting, an Honorable Mention for his mixed media illustration Personal Addiction: Thinking About the Past and the Future, and an Honorable Mention for his acrylic painting All Eyes On Me at the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards U.S. Southeastern Region-at-large competition.


January, 2020:  Sophia Rosado wins a Gold Key for her charcoal pencil drawing While You Were Sleeping, a Gold Key for her graphite pencil drawing Contact, and a Gold Key for her mixed media drawing Beauty in the Bathroom at the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards U.S. Southeastern Region-at-large competition.


April, 2019:  Jack Peterson is selected to attend the 2019 Virginia Summer Residential Governor's School for the Visual Arts held at Radford University.  Jack was one of only 40 students from across the state selected for this program.


March, 2019:  Julia McConnell wins a Gold Medal for her egg basket Carry All Your Eggs at the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards National Competition.  Julia attended the Gold Medal awards ceremony held at Carnegie Hall in New York City on June 6.  Julia's basket was also featured in a special exhibit at Parson's School of Art and Design in NYC. Her basket continued to be on display over the next two years, as the exhibit traveled to various locations around the country.


February, 2019:  Julia McConnell wins a Gold Key for her egg basket Carry All Your Eggs and a Silver Key for her fiber coiled basket Leaking Shadow at the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards U.S. Southeastern Region-at-large competition.


February, 2019:  JF wins the "Top High School Art" award at the second annual University of Lynchburg High School Art Show.  This award was given for best overall representation among 11 participating area high schools.


February, 2019:  Jack Peterson wins a Merit Award and a $100 gift certificate for his illustration Personal Addiction: Thinking About the Past and the Future at the second annual University of Lynchburg High School Art Show. Jack was one of only four students to receive this award.


February, 2018:  Kenzie Hawkins wins a Merit Award and a $100 gift certificate for her sculpture Sewn Together at the first annual University of Lynchburg High School Art Show.  Kenzie was one of only three students to receive this award.


February, 2018:  Hailey Woerner wins a Merit Award and a $100 gift certificate for her graphite pencil drawing Personal Reflection at the first annual University of Lynchburg High School Art Show.  Hailey was one of only three students to receive this award.


May, 2017:  Kendall Mullins wins "Best of Show" for his collage composition Liza at the annual Bedford County High Schools Art Show held at the Bower Center for the Arts in Bedford, Virginia.


May, 2016:  Harrison Dodd wins "Best of Show" for his collage composition Twain at the annual Bedford County High Schools Art Show held at the CVCC Bedford Campus in Bedford, Virginia.

April, 2015:  Harrison Dodd is selected to attend the 2015 Virginia Summer Residential Governor's School for the Visual Arts held at Radford University.  Harrison was one of only 40 students from across the state selected for this program.
