All students are expected to be prepared for class every day. Class materials are needed every day; these include instrument, music, any assignments, and a pencil. Daily participation points include preparation, having all class materials, and working up to potential.
Practice -- This is your homework for class. Maintaining good practice habits is essential to having good ensemble and personal success on an instrument. It is expected that students will practice on a daily basis outside of rehearsal time for the amount of practice necessary to perform their part to the level of the ensemble for which they are members. Practice expectations: 6th graders are expected to practice a minimum of 60 minutes a week, 7th graders need to practice a minimum of 90 minutes a week, and 8th graders are expected to practice a minimum of 110 minutes per week.
All instruments must be taken home every day. We share cabinet space and there is simply is not enough storage to accommodate instruments for all of the students that we have. In addition, how could you practice without your instrument at home?
