Coach Connections

How can your Career Coach help you reach your brightest future?

In a high school, the career coach is a unique resource dedicated to helping students discover and develop plans for their future. A Career Coach can help students with:

  • Completing career exploration and assessments:

    • Mapping out a plan for the future and setting goals to get there.

    • Assistance with matching each student’s unique abilities and interests to a career that will complement him/her.

  • Provides opportunities to students to connect to local business and industries through virtual Bedford ONE Tours.

  • Organizes virtual Career Cafe's at JFHS for business and industry panel discussions.

  • Postsecondary options:

    • College exploration – ranging from certificate programs, associate’s degree and beyond

    • Information about the Community College System and the programs offered

    • Military/Apprenticeships/Employment

  • CVCC information:

    • Help students with all aspects of the CVCC application process which includes:

      • Determining eligibility using current placement measures. (Formerly, the Virginia Placement Test was used.)

      • Connect students with dual enrollment as well as program enrollment.

      • Communicating all deadlines and requirements.

    • Help students discover Programs of Study that suit his/her interests and timeline.
